L A S E R - P R O F I L E - C U T T I N GThe introduction of laser technology to profile cutting brings many benefits, expanding C & R's ability to offer a much wider service to its clients.
This remarkable process is achieved by the concentrating the power of the laser on to a spot 0.2mm in diameter, achieving a power density of up to one million watts per square inch. Under these conditions, most materials instantly vaporize and are blown away by a jet of assist gas. The small cut width results in little heat dissipating into the articles being cut resulting in no heat distortion. Being a beam of light there is also no mechanical pressure applied to the materials cut. These advantages combine to make Laser cutting unparalleled for quality of its finished articles.
To take advantage of these benefits, the accuracy and speed of CNC control is used to place the beam at precisely the required position at the correct speed with the right dwells to produce exactly what is required. A new state of the art computer and software brings real computing power to the preparation of the CNC programs. AutoCAD type drawing of the article is produced or a DXF file can be imported then manipulated on screen to give the maximum use of material and shortest tool paths. The combination of JetCAM, AutoCAD and Corel DRAW software can import files from most CAD and Page Layout programs and we can also scan your designs from your artwork.
Our laser cutting operation, introduced in 1984, means C & R has built up considerable experience with this new technology. Our well trained staff can assist you with technical advice, test cuts on your materials and quotations.
